Conference Registration EligibilityRegistration Requirements for Non-MembersNon-member organizations should refer to the eligibility guidelines below. If you are unsure about your eligibility to attend, please contact our membership department by e-mail at membership@cof.org or at 202/467-0463. Council on Foundations No Solicitation RuleThis conference is not intended to be an opportunity for solicitation of members and we ask all participants to honor this intention. Independent donors who do have their own foundations and those with funds in national gift funds or other public charities are welcome to attend the conference. Annual giving must be greater than $25,000 per year. Please include a letter indicating the nature of your giving and your estimated annual giving amount with your registration form. Conference attendance is not guaranteed until the Council confirms eligibility.
U.S.-Based Foundations/Corporate Giving ProgramsGrantmaking organizations, foundations and/or corporate giving programs that are not Council on Foundations members may be eligible to attend if they submit a copy of the foundation's IRS determination letter. Corporate giving programs please submit a copy of the latest annual report or the program's grant guidelines. Supporting documentation may be sent with the registration form. Foundations Based Outside the United StatesNon-member grantmaking organizations based outside the United States should submit complete financial statements (preferably the English translation) for the most recent fiscal year or a copy of the latest annual report that includes the goals of the grantmaking program. Banks and Trust CompaniesRepresentatives of member organizations must be sponsored by the member foundation/corporation and must register under that organization's name. Non-member representatives must submit information based upon the criteria listed in the aforementioned section. Consultants/Legal Counsel and Federal Government OfficialsFoundations/corporations wishing to register active consultants/legal counsel must register them under the foundation/corporation name and provide a letter noting that the registrant is an active consultant of the foundation/corporation. Federal government officials whose primary responsibilities are grantmaking programs may attend. Please submit a letter or printed material explaining the nature of the grantmaking activities. MediaNews media may be eligible to attend the conference. Nonprofit organization newsletters with no general circulation or paid subscription bases may not be eligible to attend the conference. New FoundationsA newly established foundation may be eligible for a special half-price registration rate due to the "Building Strong and Ethical Foundations: Doing It Right" initiative.
