Accountability in Action: Realizing the Advantage
Corporate grantmakers have long recognized their obligations to multiple stakeholders. Current legislation and regulation mandate a certain degree of transparency and accountability for many of them—including the company you work for and the nonprofits you fund-as well as for your own foundation or giving program. This increased accountability is certain to provide new challenges. But for grantmakers who view compliance as a minimum, it will provide new opportunities as well, opportunities to develop best practices, to create distinguished community engagement programs and to position you as a leader among your own key stakeholders. In this session, consider with your colleagues the accountability advantage and begin to think about exercising your leadership in an entirely new way. |

Compliance and Accountability: The Challenges
Sarbanes-Oxley, stock-exchange listing rules, USA Patriot Act, Senate Finance Committee reforms—these laws, regulations and proposals affect the day-to-day operation of corporate foundations and giving programs alike. A fundamental understanding of their power and influence is essential. In this session you'll hear a concise overview of the basics: the facts, the driving forces, the effects and the philanthropic field's response.
