Program Information

Establishing a New Foundation is a half-day, small-group discussion for those who are in the planning stage or have just begun taking on the challenge of establishing a new foundation. You may attend the seminar as a single activity or in conjunction with the other institutes.

Colburn Wilbur, trustee and past president of The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and Andrew Schulz, deputy general counsel of the Council on Foundations, will engage the group in a confidential, informative small-group discussion of the ins and outs of starting a foundation. Presenters will answer your questions and discuss the following:

  • Ways to establish your mission and grantmaking focus
  • Strategies for setting up your organization
  • Forecasting future challenges and potential solutions.

Appreciation

The Council thanks Lynne F. Siegel of Strategies for Philanthropy for sponsoring breakfast during the 2005 Special Seminar for New Foundations.
