PROGRAM INFORMATION
Institute for New Board Members The Institute for New Board Members is a professional development day for foundation board members and trustees. It is an opportunity to learn about basic legal, ethical and day-to-day responsibilities of foundations. The Council on Foundations and BoardSource have joined forces to develop this hands-on, intensive training in governance for foundation board members. Faculty Institute faculty members include nonprofit experts, grantmakers from a variety of foundations and Council on Foundations and BoardSource staff. What Will New Board Members Do?
All board member participants will receive a free one-year membership to BoardSource — a premier provider of resources and services, leadership tips and knowledge about board-related issues — courtesy of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. For Community Foundation Board Members Participating board members from community foundations will receive a copy of The Guide for Community Foundation Board Members written by BoardSource and the Council on Foundations, also courtesy of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. Scholarships A limited number of scholarships covering tuition are available on a first-come, first-served basis for board members representing community foundations with assets of less than $25 million. To apply, send an e-mail to winterinstitutes@cof.org or call 202/467-0438. |
